Hundred Flowers (Public Award) establishes Feature Film Award and single awards, totaling up to 8. Feature Film awards include: 1 Best Feature Film, 2 Excellent Feature Films. Single awards include: 1 Best Director, 1 Best Actor, 1 Best Actress, 1 Best Supporting Actor, 1 Best Supporting Actress, 1 Best New Act. In particular, Best New Act winners should be script writer, director, actor, photographer, recorder, fine artist and other main producers that take part in production of no more than 3 films below 35 years old.
Candidate films should be domestic films that have obtained “License for Public Projection of Films” issued by SARFT, with box office no less than 5 million Yuan (or there should be no fewer than 30 million film and TV series viewers) and that are played during the period of award assessment (two years). The films jointly made by production organizations in the mainland (China), Hong Kong, Macau and Taiwan and foreign countries as well as actors in Hong Kong, Macau and Taiwan are also allowed to join in the award and single award selection.
China Film Association authorizes managers of backbone cinemas subordinate to China Film Issuance & Projection Association, totaling up to 100 members to compose the initial assessment judge committee that selects candidate films of “Hundred Flowers (Public Award)” that year. After committee’s permission, the candidates are submitted to China International Literature Association for checking. Finally, 10 candidates of “Hundred Flowers (Public Award)” are confirmed. Single award winners are selected from the candidate films that year.
The list of “Hundred Flowers (Public Award)” candidates are announced on media. Massive film audience vote for 5 film nominees and 5 single award nominees. Audience’s voting in “Hundred Flowers (Public Award)” adopts letter voting, online voting and text message voting. Every audience can only choose one of the three voting methods.
